About Me
My name is Liam Gray, born Liam Kelsh. From the earliest of my recollections, I date the entertainment of a singular dream; that polarity (the opposites) would not forever hold me within its foul tornado. That in order to form a ‘more perfect union’ it would be necessary to find the center of all things polar. My adventure towards creation began.
From early junior high, I was trusted with the experience of witnessing very adult or mature artworks which incorporated mixed media, hosting very explicit or mature content. I am grateful to my mother for allowing me to examine the art department at the college she worked at – which was held in high esteem for the college’s successful art programs.
I was young when it had become very obvious to me that I knew what I wanted to do with my life. I wanted to create. In fact, further down the line – I realized it was always what I wanted to pursue. The pursuit of creating more beauty for our very black and white world was not an easy path to take, but it was an easy choice to make.
I studied sculpture at the College of Saint Rose. Afterwards I worked in a college office. Insignificant. My heart was elsewhere. So I decided to say goodbye to my career desk jobs, and I enrolled myself in welding school. I struggled, I had many failures, but the few victories kept me. Carrying me on within my minor victories, I decided to purchase my own TIG welding machine.

After many professionally certified welding jobs, and their repetitious daily responsibilities, I found myself in my mother’s attic. With my new welder, some scrap metal I found by the train tracks and a grinder, I went to work immediately to sculpt with metal to my heart’s desire. I was the Artist in the Attic. My heart was no longer elsewhere, I had simply found my center.
My center, where metal becomes something more than just form. It becomes art. A center where getting the job done isn’t good when it’s done – it’s only done when it’s good. I offer my services up to any interested. I look forward to working with you. Not just for you. Instead, let’s work together!
